Injury to the artery wall can induce pathological conditions such as atherosclerosis and restenosis. Our projects are focused on molecular and cellular responses to vessel wall injury. We address the following questions:

How is the arterial extracellular matrix altered in response to an injury or to an inflammatory process?

How does a reorganised matrix affect the development of atherosclerosis and restenosis?

Which factors/substances and intracellular signalling pathways are involved in altered vascular smooth muscle cell structure and function?
